The MSA Standards Check Guide is designed to assist experienced and new Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) to prepare for - The ADI Standards Check – introduced on 7 April 2014, this is the new name for the test of Continued Ability and Fitness, previously called the Check Test, to be included in the Register of Approved Driving Instructors.
This guide contains much of the same information previously included in the MSA check test guide as although this test of your continued ability has a new name much of the way in which the ADI should deal with it remains unchanged. It is also important for those undertaking a Standards Check to ensure that they have read and understand the National standard for driver and rider training which can be viewed on the GOV.UK web site
Successful completion of a Standards Check is one of the requirements ADIs have to fulfil to stay on the register. However, the written word is no substitute for practical training, most ADIs feel that all drivers could do with some re-training every few years, but few take re-training themselves. If you wish to improve your standard, contact the MSA who will supply you with a list of approved trainers.
